From Hochstein to the Boeses Weibele (Evil Woman)

A panoramic trail of enormous magnitude high above the city of Lienz (2) leads from Hochstein to the Boeses Weibele – which does not live up to its name at all. Depending on the starting point you will hike from the parking lot at the end of the toll road (1) through magnificent lark forests via the short access road to the hut or from the summit station of the of the Lienz cableway at the Sternalm (3) on the „Maerchensteig“ (fairy tale crate) all the way up to the Hochstein hut (4). Time for breakfast on the terrace before the most enjoyable part of the day begins. Every step you take new mountain peaks enter your field of vision: to your left and to your right the limestone rocks of the Lienz Dolomites and the edges of the Schobergroup’s primary rocks compete fort he wildest ridges, but then at the summit cross of the Hochstein (5) all eyes are on the glistening flanks of the Grossvenedinger’s glacier. On the broad back of the mountain which only becomes rocky on the last meters you will climb towards the Boese Weibele without difficulty (7). The downhill climb tales place on the same route as the uphill climb (the Hochstein can be bypassed to the south when climbing down to the parking lot (6) or take another route via the south-western ridge of the Boese Weibele to the Moakaser Alp (8). The alpine-meadow trail „Pustertal“ leads you back to the Hochstein.
