Via the via-ferrata of the Madonnas to the Gamswiesenspitze-meadows

 
The Karlsbader Huette hut (3) in the center of the Lienz Dolomites is the ideal starting point of half a dozen via ferratas in the wild rocky atmosphere of the Laserz, an Alpine bowl filled with water. Solid rock, flawless safeguarding and a spectacular suspension bridge are the major attractions of the via-ferrata of the Madonnas onto the Great and the Little Gamswiesenspitze. After crossing to the Kerschbaumer Toerl  (4/2) and a loss of altitude of 200 meters to reach the access (!) on the south side  (5/2) you will find the first iron ropes requiring easy but exposed climbing (1-). Via steep craggy grounds you will quickly move upwards until the route after crossing the suspension bridge will become considerably breezier. After passing the rock tor decorated with a halo and prayer banners (hence the name) you will most certainly feel the air beneath your soles. This will be no different after the well deserved breather at the summit plateau (6/2) on the ascent to the Little Gamswiesenspitze (7/2). Here a sharp pinnacle ridge again demands full concentration. You can enjoy the rest of the day in the scenic valley of the Laserz. TIPP: If you have more time you may want to test and improve your skills at the very difficult via-ferrata of the Laserz (D on the via-ferrata scale) or you may want to enjoy the genuine alpine nature of the Seekofel-via-ferrata (B/C on the via-ferrata scale).
