Three-lake-tour via the Landsberger Huette-hut to the Vilsalpsee
The classic hiking path in the Tannheimer Tal and Austria’s most popular hiking path of 2009 leads you from the top station of the Neunerkoepflebahn (1) onto the „9erlebnisweg“ (experimental path) to the biggest guestbook at a mountain top you can find in the Alps, to the Landsberger Huette-hut (2) and to the Vilsalpsee. There is a three-hour high-level hike in front of you on the Saalfelder Hoehenweg via four gaps to the beautifully situated hut of the Alpine Club below the northern wall of the Lachenspitze (3). A challenging via ferrata will lead you through, the usage of which is recommended for experienced mountaineers and/or people in the company of a mountain guide. You also need to spend an extra night in the mountains if you want to take it along. If you do not feel up to it, you can enjoy one of the easier mountain tops along the way. Neunerkoepfle (1862m), Sulzspitze (2084m) and Schochenspitze (2069m) are within easy reach, you will „only“ need some extra stamina. The descend is fascinating as well. Starting from the hut above the mountain lake called Lache you will hike down to the sparkling Traualplsee (4) with rope and chain guard. Many serpentines then facilitate the downward hike to the shores of the “blue” Vilsalpsees (5). If you still haven’t had enough you may walk along the Vils out of the valley in the direction of Tannheim or you can take the bus, a horse carriage or the fun train called Alpine express.
