Mullerthal region (Little Switzerland, Luxembourg)A fairytale forest and rocks that might be from another planet if one takes a closer look at their shape and colour. All of this can be seen and admired on an adventure hike through Little Switzerland around the towns of Echernach and Consdorf. The different stops bear fascinating names such as den of robbers, hell, owls’ castle, goldfralay, knights’ way and ‘Kohlscheuer’. Maybe knights and robbers fought each other in the olden days? Maybe owls really did live in a castle? The stories about the hike develop naturally by themselves.
Tip 1: Adventure Kohlscheuer The circular route ‘Adventure Kohlscheuer’ is especially worth seeing. For 200 meters one has to find one’s way through narrow tunnels leading through rocks (best to bring a flashlight). Starting point of the hikes up to the ‘Kohlscheuer’ is Consdorf. Lots of legends are being told about the Consdorf Forest in which the rock formation is located: There are supposed to be goblins that once baked a cake for a hardworking farmer which he then ate off of for three years. A „Goldfraechen“, a golden lady dressed in a long white robe also haunts the forest. She holds the key to a very special treasure, only those with a pure hard are able to take it.
Tip 2: Crises-proof camping In the midst of nature living under ‚almost’ open skies. This dream can be almost realized when staying in tents. Not even the rain can spoil the fun if one chooses the right campground. The camp grounds near the Muellerthal region offer space to set up tent as well as country style huts and spacious chalets. Furthermore children can play safely and various indoor- and outdoor activities are being offered. |
