Places of legends
As the headline indicates, myths and legends that have been told from generation to generation have woven themselves around these places. The most popular topics are ghosts of forests and mountains, gnomes, goblins, and witches that have been up to much mischief in these places. But not only ghost stories are connected with certain spots, there are also spots that are connected with love stories, fairly tales or funny anecdotes. Most of the time the legend is meant to explain the existence of a certain spot site.
Places of legends are places where strength can be regained because the story that is told in combination with these unusual natural spots is inspiring. „Actually, the rock over there looks like the devil’s table…“ or: „I wouldn’t be surprised if ghosts lived in these old ruins…“ Famous places of legends are: Loch Ness (Scotland) or the Loreley in Germany

Hiking, making a pilgrimage and meditation smoothly blend into one on the meditation hike in the Ammergau Alps. The pilgrim’s path leads from the Wieskirche in Steingaden up to Linderhof castle in the Graswangtal close to Ettal. The route is 85 kilometers long and leads you to 15 different stations. The path along world famous buildings, lonesome chapels, and unique natural monuments is also a path to yourself. Right through the lovely valley of Ammertal this pilgrim’s path leads you to places where strength can be regained, places inviting you to free your soul. You will also immerse yourself in history and discover the roots of those places and … you will find yourself on the way. The monotony of walking will help you find inner peace on this pilgrim’s path, to stop thinking about every day troubles and to simply be yourself. On the meditation hike in the Ammergau Alps you will begin a journey through the idyllic landscape of the natural reserve of the Ammer mountains. You will discover unique cultural treasure and unforgettable natural monuments. Every step on the pilgrim’s path will take you closer to yourself. A special treat on this route is a guided meditative hike. An experienced body therapist and pilgrims’ guide will accompany you on this trip lasting several days. You will be instructed how to perform certain physical exercises, breathing exercises as well as guided fantasy tours and meditative impulses.
