Sacred or religious spots

Alhambra

Among those are churches, monasteries, chapels as well as wayside shrines (or wayside crosses). Those monuments are mostly of Christian origin and were often built on top of the remains of older religious monuments: churches were built on top of the ruins of Roman temples for example, monuments or chapels on the remains of heathen places of worship (stone circles, stone pyramids etc.).

Sacred spots are places where we can regain our strength because for thousands of years people have been using the special atmosphere of this particular place to their advantage. These places are mysterious and wonderful not only because of their extraordinary view or because they are proof of the natural powers we can observe from those sites. Here you are reminded that you are part of a near endless story.

The most famous sacred places where strength can be regained are the Cathedral of Chartres and Mont Saint Michel in France, the Alhambra in Granada or Gizeh pyramid.
